I oversee the copy editors, designers, artists and photographers at the News Sentinel. I’ve been in daily newspapering since 1987, all at Scripps properties – The El Paso Herald-Post (rest its little soul), the Stuart News in Florida, the Rocky Mountain News in Denver and here. I’ve been able to do some of the most fun stuff along the way, from go-fering to editing, from writing to designing, from cutting-and-pasting with an Exacto blade to blogging, from photo editing to launching a new newspaper in Blount County. And, while my mom would rather I’ve been a doctor or engineer, I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to be anything other than a journalist … that and the ballboy for the Dallas Cowboys.
